Mental Health and Addiction Counselor, and Art Therapist

Monika is a proud native of Cleveland, OH. She comes to North Carolina most recently from Boulder, CO. Monika is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, an Art Therapist, and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, Associate.

She has over six years of experience working with individuals and families who struggle with a wide range of mental health needs. She firmly believes in a person-centered approach to therapy, which is demonstrated in her collaboration with clients to identify unique goals and tailor her approach to meet their needs.

Monika received her undergraduate degree in Painting and Drawing from The Ohio State University. She worked as an artist and an educator before earning her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. Her experience includes working with complex trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, family conflict, mood disorders, and issues related to low self-esteem and shame.

Monika utilizes a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach, and incorporates internal family systems and mindfulness-based techniques. She has a particular passion for helping clients understand their mind-body connection and interpersonal neurobiology.  Monika believes awareness is the first step, if you can identify the barriers in your way then you can begin to understand how to remove those barriers, or at l the very least find a way to walk around and become your best self.

Her style brings humor, compassion, and respect to therapy. She is currently offering Telehealth appointments to provide greater access for individuals who want to do this work. Making changes in your life and investing in your wellbeing, is a courageous act and you do not have to do this alone.
